TV-HACKING! Experimental TV projects Interventions and workshops Spring 2004 Zürich
Starting in spring 2004 !Mediengruppe Bitnik initiated various experimental projects and interventions focussed on television and television hacking. Starting point for the experiments was a lively interest in the former (and nearly forgotten) guiding medium [Leitmedium] television and its further development in the shadows of the internet boom of the past years. Three projects and various smaller experiments and interventions resulted from this examination of the medium television: CopyFight! 100% downloaded CopyFight! is a collaborative editorial system for the programming/ editing of a TV station. Copyfight! enables the user to make his/ her own TV programmes for a community TV station over the internet thus allowing the viewer of the TV channel to be the producer at the same time. Copyfight! is a proposition for an open television system for the future, combining television with the openness internet has brought to users. It consists of a TV-internet interface, an archive for the contents (films) and an editorial interface to manage the actual TV programme. Copyfight!		StopGap TV StopGap TV is a proposition for a filling, buffer or night programme. The viewer controls a telerobot by sending text-messages with a cell phone to a number shown on the TV programme. During the programme the viewer can move the Telerobot through a landscape of print media by sending in comands and he/ she gets to see the landscape on TV through a camera on top of the robot. StopGap-TV! DADA TV Shop DADA TV Shopping is a TV shopping channel where neodada artwork is sold. The project was especially designed and implemented for the 4th annual International Dada Festival 2005 - a small commentary on the situation of the dada collective in the art market. Dada TV Shopping Apart from these projects !Mediengruppe Bitnik also organised various sessions and smaller interventions on the topic of TV. Pirate Copyfight! Cinema ran from Febuary 2004 to March 2005, there were workshops and TV parties...
